Daniel John Hurley, born January 16, 1973, is an American basketball coach who has made a name for himself over the past decade. As the head coach of the University of Connecticut's men's basketball team, Hurley has consistently led the Huskies to success, earning him recognition as one of the top coaches in the NCAA.

Early Career and Seton Hall Roots

Hurley's basketball journey began at Seton Hall University, where he served as point guard for the Pirates from 1991 to 1995. During his time with Seton Hall, he averaged 13.8 points, 5.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game. After graduating from college, Hurley embarked on a coaching career that would eventually lead him to the pinnacle of college basketball.

Success at UConn and National Recognition

Hurley's coaching career took off when he joined the UConn Huskies in 2018. In his six seasons at the helm, he has consistently guided the Huskies to the NCAA Tournament, including a trip to the national championship game in 2021. Under Hurley's leadership, UConn won the 2024 BIG EAST Coach of the Year award and has emerged as a perennial contender in college basketball.
