2024 Presidential Election: Key Dates and Events

Primaries and Caucuses

The primary and caucus process for the 2024 presidential election will officially begin in early 2024. The first primary is scheduled for February 6, 2024, and the final primary is scheduled for June 7, 2024. Candidates will need to win a majority of delegates in order to secure their party's nomination.

Conventions

The two major political parties, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, will hold their national conventions in July and August 2024. The Republican National Convention will be held from July 15-18, 2024, while the Democratic National Convention will be held from August 5-8, 2024. At these conventions, the parties will officially nominate their presidential candidates and adopt their party platforms.

Debates

There will be three presidential debates scheduled for the 2024 election cycle. Election Day

On Election Day, voters will go to the polls to vote for their preferred candidate for President of the United States. The candidate who receives the most electoral votes will be elected as the next President of the United States.
